18 Simple Ways to Protect You and Your Pet From EMF Radiation

I know you’re the kind of person who is truly grateful to share your life with your pets.

My cats, dogs, and birds are my constant companions, sharing the ups and downs of my life as well as my living and working spaces.

Since we’re so close to our animals in all these ways, that means they’re sharing our EMF exposure, too.

They have no choice in the matter. They are at the mercy of whatever devices we choose to engage with while they’re in our presence.

As their companion and caretaker, it’s on us to protect them in all ways, including the choices we make with our electronic devices.

Why is this important to think about?

Because more and more studies are showing that electromagnetic fields, or EMFs, affect our health.

And how do we know this? Through studies conducted on rats and monkeys.

We’ll save the discussion of the use of animals in medical testing for another day, but what’s important is:

If scientists extrapolate the negative effects of EMFs from animal studies to humans, I think we can agree that it’s no-brainer to extrapolate them to our pets, too.

What are EMFs?

I don’t want to make you feel like you’re back in high school science class, so I’ll explain it in very simple terms. 🤓

Electric and magnetic fields are fancy ways to describe the invisible radiation waves that are given off from both manmade electronics and natural and manmade sources of light.

There are two types, non-ionizing, low-level radiation produced by things like:

  • Microwaves

  • Computers

  • Household energy smart meters

  • Cell phones

  • Bluetooth devices

  • Power lines

  • MRIs

Then there are ionizing EMFs, high-level radiation produced by:

  • Sunlight

  • X-Rays

The general consensus is that low-level radiation is generally safe for humans – and therefore pets.

But more and more research is showing that because our exposure is so regular and prolonged, these “harmless” EMFs aren’t so benign.

Why isn’t this ringing alarm bells with everyone?

You guessed it, because the telecom and electronics industries are HUGE and have a lot at stake. They have teams of people who work to suppress this kind of information.

My purpose in telling you this isn’t to scare you, it’s to inform and empower you to take steps to protect yourself and your animals.

What are the effects of prolonged EMF exposure?

You need to know that there is a growing body of evidence that EMF toxicity is responsible for things like:

  • Cellular damage

  • Compromised immune systems

  • Decreased endocrine function (significantly higher incidents of endocrine disease over the last 20 years in pets!)

  • Disruptions in hormone production and fertility

  • Decreased serotonin levels affecting mood and behavior

  • Digestion issues

  • Cancer, especially lymphoma

Now that we’ve gotten the bad stuff out of the way, I want to reassure you that protecting yourself and your pets won’t involve asking you to go off the grid, dig your rotary phone out of the attic, or swap your typewriter for your laptop!

There are small but important adjustments you can make in your daily life that will decrease your exposure and make your family safer from the effects of EMFs.

Modern life means living in harmony with electronic devices.

I lived pre-computer and pre-cell phone. I certainly don’t want to go back!

I enjoy my devices and the convenience they provide, but ignoring the dangers that can come with them isn't smart.

By following these guidelines, we can enjoy our devices while reducing our risk:

Limit the number of EMF sources.

  • Switch off your WiFi If you’re not online. Plug it into a power strip and simply switch it on when you need it.

  • Unplug appliances when not in use.

  • Turn off lights and unplug chargers and earbuds when not in use.

  • Hardwire your devices whenever you can.

Create a barrier between you and your device.

  • Move your WiFi router to a room away from where you and your animals hang out.

  • Don’t keep your phone plugged in right by your bed. Even moving it 2 feet away reduces your radiation exposure by one quarter! The further away your devices in your bedroom, the better.

  • Put your phone in airplane mode and use a separate alarm clock if you must have your phone nearby.

  • Don’t take the term “laptop” literally! Place a barrier like an EMF shield on your lap or use a table.

  • Don’t store your phone in your pocket or bra.

Use EMF reducing products.

These are a few of my favorite protection products:

  • Blue-light blocking glasses when using screens.

  • I use a Lemurian plug to change the frequency in my home and store to protect against EMFs, 5G radiation, and toxins.

  • I wear a Leela Quantum Capsule around my neck or in my pocket to surround myself with healing frequencies.

  • Salt lamps ionize the atmosphere, neutralizing EMF radiation.

Protect your pets. Everything listed above will protect them, too, but here are a few additional ways to reduce the effects of EMF exposure on your animal companions:

  • Keep their napping and sleeping spaces at least 4 feet away from WiFi routers, fans, air purifiers, or AC units, main electrical panels or sub panels.

  • Keep them naturally grounded by walking frequently in nature with direct contact to the earth. This is great for you, too! Go barefoot or sit on the ground!

  • Strengthen their immune systems with natural, high-quality, species specific fresh food.

  • Use flower essences to balance their energy bodies and preserve the integrity of the energy field. Malachite, Shungite, and White Yarrow are particularly effective.

  • Use an EMF radiation protection vest if your pet won’t leave your side as you work on the computer or watch TV.

These small adjustments in your lifestyle will make BIG reductions in the exposure risks for you and your pets. They may take a while to become habits, but they’re easy to do and will help protect your health and well-being. Protecting those we love is worth the effort!
